5/5 Stars: A Porcupine You Can Actually Put in Your Pocket I’ve spent the last three decades

5/5 Stars: A Porcupine You Can Actually Put in Your Pocket
I’ve spent the last three decades avoiding two things at all costs: angry badgers and putting anything resembling a porcupine into my pants. But then Vosteed dropped the Porcupine, and suddenly I’m voluntarily sliding a quill-themed cutting machine into my front pocket every single morning.
Here is why this knife deserves a standing ovation, a Nobel Peace Prize, and a permanent spot in your EDC rotation:
The Blade: Aggressive, Yet Elegant
The blade profile looks like a tactical reverse-tanto and a surgical scalpel had a beautiful, slightly unhinged baby. Vosteed calls it a "Modified Wharncliffe," but let’s call it what it really is: a laser-guided cardboard executioner. I pulled this out at the office to open a package of generic printer paper, and the box practically opened itself out of sheer respect. The factory edge is so violently sharp it could probably slice through tension in an awkward family dinner.
The Ergonomics: Peak Spiky Comfort
When you name a knife after a rodent whose entire evolutionary strategy is "don't touch me," you set expectations. I expected to deploy this thing and immediately require stitches. Instead, Vosteed pulled off a miracle of modern engineering. The handle ergonomics are spectacular. It locks into your hand like it was custom-molded to your palm. The texture gives you all the grip you need without feeling like you’re holding a piece of 60-grit sandpaper. It’s a porcupine that actually likes to be cuddled.
The Action: The Fidget-Factor is Dangerous
The deployment action on this knife is smoother than a slick-talking politician. Thanks to Vosteed’s dialed-in detent, it snaps open with a satisfying, metallic THWACK that triggers an instant dopamine hit. I have flipped this knife so many times in the last 48 hours that my thumb has developed its own biceps. My family thinks I have a nervous twitch. My dog leaves the room when I sit down on the couch. It is dangerously, beautifully addictive.
The Verdict
If you are looking for a boring, generic pocket knife that blends into the background like oatmeal, look elsewhere. The Vosteed Porcupine is quirky, incredibly functional, and punch-above-its-weight premium. It’s the only porcupine on the planet that will cut your apples, destroy your Amazon boxes, and look absolutely brilliant doing it.
Buy one. Just remember to take it out before you wash your jeans, unless you want your washing machine to look like it survived a knife fight.

Lovely little porcupine

Really nice knife. I also have the ti slim version and the ti slim racoon, these knives are really good quality for the money and super smooth and solid action.

That sound!

It's worth buying just to fidget with and hear that Vosteed 'SHCLICK!' sound when deployed. Thumb hole works perfectly, button release makes it a fidget god.

👍

Great knife. Super fidget friendly. Would love a slightly larger version. Vosteed's top liner lock action is possibly the best of all brands I've experienced

Best budget EDC of 2025? They weren’t wrong!

I saw a few YouTube videos about this knife and the reviews were saying this was the best budget edc knife of 2025.
They certainly weren’t wrong!
After carrying it every day for the past few weeks, it’s the perfect edc. The right size blade and the finger choil makes it’s the perfect slicer.

Vosteed Porcupine

Surprised by how solid this folder is. Full size liners with jimping give a nice look and feel. I also love the finger choil that allows choking up on the blade easily. Great value and easy to recommend.

Excellent knife

Excellent knife, brilliant design features, cut myself with it straight out of the box so it's sharp that's for sure. Strongest budget knife set up that is still fidget friendly. Excellent service as always from Adventure Carry, always dependable and extremely fast.

My irrational love for this knife

I've actually bought three of these now. Two for me and one to gift to a mate; and the funny thing is - I reckon I'm still ahead on the price of this knife versus a single knife of similar quality from a major traditional manufacturer. It's lock up is solid and strong, easy to use and deploy and with that mystical 'just right' feel in the hand that is part design genius and part personally preference.

The steel is perfectly fine too. The catch with those super hard, super sharp steels is that they are a breast to sharpen. This one holds it's edge long enough to be practical (a few days with regular daily use) and then it's very easy to get shaving sharp again.

I keep wondering 'what's the catch'

I've had this one for a week now. I keep wondering 'what's the catch? A knife so well put together, rock solid lockup and flawless in all the ways that a fussy knife geek likes - should really cost way more. The size is perfect for me but that's a personal preference thing. The huge belly on the blade is not 100% my favorite but that doesn't really matter too much and is far from a deal breaker. The steel is great - but that's because I'm not sharpening handicapped and like honing a blade. I touch this one up about once a week after daily use. Overall the Porcupine has that Feng Shui/sacred geometry that makes it a pleasure to hold, deploy and use. I like it - a lot. Stupidly good value really.
